Review on ๐Ÿน Experience Optimal Comfort and Space with Guinea Habitat Guinea Pig Cage by Midwest by Laura Turner

I liked the size, but there are many flaws.

This cage is a good size for our guinea pigs and I love that the top is removable. However, if you need to move it, the canvas bottom makes it very difficult and almost impossible for one person to do so. It was also difficult to stretch the tarp to fit part of the cage inside the tarp but the biggest problem I see is that the tarp is not very strong and our guinea pig the week we use it bought, had already bitten through a hole. Canvas. For this reason alone I am allowed to return. 3 weeks later I sent the cage back, in addition to the above issues the wire connectors broke trying to move the cage (see photo), I was probably able to fix it with needle nose pliers but not for all the other issues. One photo shows a normal splice waste which was fine but the other side had to stay spliced together. A lot of excrement and litter gets stuck behind the grid and the only way to clear it is to completely detach the wire from the canvas backing, which is a big problem as the velcro straps are awkward to thread through the top of the wire. Also, the ramp can only be held up on one side, no problem if you just want to use it as a separating barrier, but that was where my guinea pig peed. Not only was the ramp stained with urine, but the inability to hold the ramp from that side made it difficult to clean underneath as I had to hold on with one hand and pick up dirty bedding with the other. I didn't wash the canvas but I used a cell cleaner and by the end of a month the canvas was quite dirty. I've decided to switch to a plastic base and although I only made the switch 2 days ago I'm much happier already.
