Rugged, feels very strong and is HUGE in weight. That's why I bought it. I have another 14" hard board that I love but wanted something that would allow me to carry camping gear, dog, fridge, etc. My weight is around 275 which is the upper limit of almost any solid board so I caught this thing and love it. When I'm out paddling on the lake I usually use my hardboard because it seems a bit faster and more stable to me - purely anecdotally it "feels" faster, I've never done anything. scientific. But for a game or a sunset walk with my wife, I take this. My wife and I together don't make it flabby or tiring. If I were gifting a board and only had to keep one for myself, I would really keep that board and the other would be more than double the price of this one. I would recommend it to a friend without hesitation. great board
