Review on ASLAN PET Stylish Dog Crate, Available in Multiple Sizes by Marti Kordeliski

We've had the trendy Petmate 21647 Pet Porter Giant Charcoal Dog Crate for a few days and we are very happy with it as is our 9 month old German Shepherd Riley. This unit is an upgrade from the Petmate 21950 Vari 40" Kennel, 70-90lbs, Bleached Linen that we originally bought for him when he came home to us at 9 weeks old (I used the plastic crates in him (to reduce his size).. to match his child's size and took it down as he grew.) Finally, when he was 8 months old and weighed 70 pounds, it was clear that I would convert him to a super giant cage had to downsize as he likes to stretch out when he sleeps and can no longer sit in it without bending over .Maybe it bothered him, maybe not, but it definitely bothered me so I first went to the largest kennel, Petmate Vari , pulled the trigger. When it arrived I was dismayed at the poor fit of the door - you really had to work over and over to close it. Uncool. So he went back to Revain and I ordered a Petmate Pet Porter and was glad that the door works smoothly ionized. I should note that I don't see any visual difference between Vari and Pet Porter other than the fact that Pet Porter is light brown dark gray compared to Varis, other than the door latch issue. Note that the Pet Porter door has a round latch and spring-loaded lock, allowing the door to be opened with two hands, which is different from the one-handed latch found on smaller drawers. I also maintain that this box has no holes on the back, so you may need to drill some if you need it for air travel (a 5/8" or 3/4" drill bit will do). In summary, I think Riley likes his new box and I think he really likes the dark cave vibe that the dark gray gives. I'll know he's really good at it by setting up his lava lamp and hanging his pin-ups on the walls. Update 4 months later: Still happy with this box. I leave the door open when Riley is free in the house, which is 95% of the time, and he regularly comes in alone just to take a nap. The locking mechanism is sometimes difficult to secure as the entire door appears to be floating in place. But it doesn't get any better in this size bracket - and it's not a deal-killer.
