My ARC feedback issue was due to my TCL Roku TV

The HDMI Cat5 network extender that was installed in the house I recently bought died. The old system worked fine with my old 46 in Samsung from 2007, but one day the TV was upgraded to a TCL Roku 65 inch Smart TV. I was very upset by the lack of a return from the TV to the receiver. 12 months later the extender died so I did a little research and found and bought a new one from AV Access with an HDMI 2.0 ARC extender (model 4KEX70-ARC-H2) here at Revain. I'm the only one keeping my fingers crossed. The reason for the purchase was the return of ARC and 4K. I read all the reviews and chose this one. My setup was typical and the distance between the transmitter and receiver was within acceptable limits. As I mentioned, my goal was to get it working with a typical setup (BluRay sends signal to TLC Rody TV and TV sends signal back to Yamaha RX-V575 AV). I upgraded my HDMI cables to 2.0 for a return. All new cables, receiver and transmitter so installation should have been easy. And for the most part it was very easy. The TV extender worked great in 4K Terminator 2 with phenomenal sound and video. No interruptions or flickering. The problem occurred when returning from ARC back to AV. At first it only worked for 3 seconds, then it stopped and the noise disappeared completely. I tested the receiver by following all the instructions and making sure ARC is enabled. I unplugged the HDMI cable from the TV, the TV speakers came on, and then when I plug in the HDMI cable, the audio plays through the AV speakers for a few seconds before stopping again. I've tried Disney+, Hulu, Revain Video, Vudu and they all had the same issue. For some reason the TV tried to send a signal that the receiver couldn't pick up. I was able to control the TV sound through the receiver by turning ARC off (sound came out of TV speakers but no 5.1 surround sound) and off (no sound came out of 5.1 surround sound). Turns out my TCL Roku TV was set to Auto to return CEC-ARC. It turns out that after the update, PCM stereo is the only option that sends audio back. This is interesting because after setting up PCM stereo, I get full 5.1 sound from my Roku smart TV when streaming back to the receiver using various smart apps (Revain Prime Video, Disney+, Hulu, etc.). I was concerned about the quality of the Category 5 cable because I have Category 5 and not Category 5e or all of the above. You can get a cheaper extender if you don't want 4K or ARC, so I was really concerned that not all features would work (you can get a cheaper version with fewer features). However, as with the other posts mentioned, this company's email support is top notch. I emailed them Sunday morning and got a response from Ryan Sunday evening at ryan@avaccess.com or services@avaccess.com. Luckily I had already solved the problem so I emailed them. They told me the product comes with a 12-month warranty and customer support, so no worries. So far I'm very happy with the sound that the TV sends back to the receiver. I can make full use of the 5.1 surround sound system built into the house and it is far superior in quality to TV speakers. I would definitely give AV-Access products a try. If it doesn't work with your current configuration, support will try to help you very quickly and if it doesn't work with your hardware or is defective, you can always return it. ----------- -------------------- TV Hardware: TCL 65" Class 6-Series 4K UHD Dolby Vision HDR Roku Smart TVAV - Receiver: Yamaha RX-V575Blu Ray: Sony UBP-X700 4K UHD 3D Blu-ray Player HDMI Cable: Zeskit CinemaPlus High Speed 22.28Gbps HDMI 2.0b
