Review on πŸ”’ Ecolink Z-Wave PIR Motion Detector - Pet Immune, White (PIRZWAVE2.5-ECO): Reliable Home Security Solution by Dany Hamilton

This is an AWESOME motion sensor.

Awesome! First, it's tiny, attractive, and unassuming at the same time. Second, excellent battery life; We've had it for 2.5 months and the battery still shows 99%. And it's powerful - even at medium sensitivity, it reliably (and instantly) detects movement from 35 to 40 feet away across the room. I've been thinking about buying a Nest or an Ecobee 4 to try and get a working motion-based thermostat for our living room, which is 40 feet diagonally. However, the Nest doesn't let you add external motion sensors, and the built-in only works at 15ft. And with Ecobee4, he has all these little motion sensors, but they're just designed to work in different rooms; The software isn't flexible enough so it won't work properly if you put them all in one big room. I ended up buying this (just one) plus a SmartThings hub and a really basic Honeywell Z-Wave thermostat (RTH6580WF). . To hook everything up, I used the Rboy Motion-Based Thermostat SmartApp, which I think I paid $30(?) for, but I think it's worth the money. We now have a fully motion-based thermostat, but its range is a 40-foot space. I'm excited about the final system. Our family room is always warm when we are in it and never wastes energy when we are not there.
