A relatively heavy metal cover over a metal frame. Hoping the extra weight will protect against bugs.
I bought this bin to replace a flimsy plastic bin that is said to repel fruit flies but it doesn't. This year I was attacked by garbage-eating insects like never before. I used to just throw food waste in the bin with no consequences. Somehow the bugs managed to get inside the plastic container, perhaps because the lid didn't seal as tightly as it should. Maybe they'll start small and feed on the junk in there, and when you open the lid, bingo, big fat bugs like I've never seen before this year. consequences of climate change? Hope this metal version works.
