GREAT for a pine pellet litter box!

We are a cat loving family of 3. I bought this litter box after being incredibly frustrated with the horrible constant smell of the litter box in our house and the fact that we spend so much money on it every month the cat litter. We've tried many sprays, powders, and scented refills, but nothing got rid of the smell. We also got tired of constantly stepping on the trash around the litter box, despite having a fully enclosed litter box and sweeping more than once a day. How: Buy Pine Pellet Bedding. We got a 40 lb bag from Tractor Supply for $5.99. Line the bottom tray with a garbage bag (our regular large drawstring kitchen bags will do). Fill the top bowl with pine pellets. In order for this to work you need to put some pieces of wood or something similar on the bottom tray under the plastic bag liner (see picture). Just make sure the wood is thick enough that there is a few inches of space between two trays. Every time you pick up the box (for poop), you shake the top tray and all the "urine dust" falls off and is collected. in the lower compartment. When a cat urinates in the box, the pellets immediately crumble into dust. We've been using this setup for over a week and still haven't had to change the plastic bag liner in the bottom shell, no urine smell. The best thing about this setup, in my opinion, is the fact that you never have to change all of the pellets. You simply add new pellets as needed. With our old traditional tray, I had to throw out all the junk and refill at least once a week because of the smell. We've been using this setup for over a week and I haven't noticed any cat urine smell! When cat feces need to be scooped up and disposed of like in a regular litter box, they smell slightly worse than in a traditional litter box because the feces aren't covered by the litter. It smells faintly of pine. because of the granules, and overall the box smells a lot better than our old traditional box (but if it's cat poo, you'll want to take it out as soon as possible because of the smell). Occasionally I'll find a few pellets thrown out of the crate, but that's nothing compared to the amount of fill material thrown away throughout the day, and it's an open crate, not our old closed crate. My experience with this setup was great. I wouldn't even think about going back to our old tray. We'll also save so much money every month it's ridiculous. Maybe we can get some more cats now? LAUGH OUT LOUD.
