A 1 star rating can be a bit harsh, especially given the price. I like the overall quality but the lids seem to be a work in progress. We had these totes for several weeks before one of the tabs broke at the seam. Perhaps this is more a matter of design than quality. The lids are designed to close very tightly, but the plastic tabs obviously don't do the job given the forces involved, especially if you don't close them properly. We dropped a lid, but at least we still have a borosilicate glass container. Products made from borosilicate glass have been hard to find ever since the retail brand Pyrex was sold to a Chinese company that switched to cheaper glass. This was my first purchase of such a glass storage container in over 10 years. My old Pyrex cookware has a plain plastic lid with a plain rim that works fine but isn't airtight and requires attention when cleaning the inside of the rim. Despite the moving parts, I found these OXO lids to actually be easier to clean. Given how blunt consumer reviews can be and how cost-conscious they are, it's no surprise that most manufacturers are going the cheap route. OXO earns points for effort. They almost had a standout product; Many lucky buyers receive nothing but an excellent product. If you can handle a potentially broken lid on the go, give it a try. Otherwise, look for a less ambitious alternative, at least until OXO fixes the problems.
