Review on πŸ’§ STITCH Smart Home Collection: Monoprice Wireless Smart Water Leak/Flood Sensor - White. Probe & Alarm, No Hub Needed! by Rory Stice

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works great in household sensors and alarms

This device works perfectly. Several considerations. It would have been cheaper if I had bought it directly from Monoprice. Hence the "lack" of costs. The instructions are terrible - the grammar is barely understandable and the instructions are terrible. It's like the booklet is missing pages. Hence the "lack" of technical support. The writing in the instructions is so small that I had to use a magnifying glass to read them (not that they're worth reading). The device works only on the 2.4 GHz frequency. If you have a 5/2.4GHz router, make sure you can disable 5GHz before completing setup. Hence the "absence" of the WiFi signal. The proposed application is not very good. I was able to use this sensor with the "SmartLife" app which works better. Also, I already use this application for other devices, which makes it easier. Update September 21, 2021: One of my biggest fears as a homeowner is undetected leaks – water causes more damage to homes than fires every year. So I bought 3 more of these leak detectors (unfortunately the horrible instructions haven't improved since my first purchase). Also, I recently bought a 220V Wi-Fi switch (DEWENWILS, model T40W) which I plugged in to control the fountain in my house. Both the sensors and the fountain switch are controlled via the SmartLife app. And by using the Scene tool in SmartLife instead of IFTTT, I was able to quickly and easily connect the leak sensors to my fountain switch. This means that if one of the four leakage sensors detects water, the fountain pump switches off immediately.

Pros
  • Ideal for a small house
Cons
