I put mine in the chicken coop. I chose this one because it is mains powered and not battery powered. Many other reviews mention a fan. It's not that loud. Yes, you can tell there's a fan, but it's a lot less noisy than. all other humming noises in your home. Lol it's not loud enough to interrupt your favorite show. I wouldn't put it under my pillow either. The screen can be dimmed and turned off completely. The application tracks either a 24-hour window or a seven-day window. Nothing in the window allows you to configure notifications. I want to be able to implement this in the application. I want to be notified when it gets too cold in my Alaskan chicken coop. alexa I did my best. I can't get it to work. I gave this item four stars because the Alexa feature is not working properly. I don't even want it to work with Alexa. It's just the fact that it's advertised as compatible.
