I'm very picky about shoes; not that I'm a snob or a collector, but more of a guy who wants a versatile shoe that's comfortable and inexpensive. Received these shoes in the mail today and was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box. This is my first pair of Hush Puppies and I didn't know what to expect in terms of quality, fit, color or style. Quality: very well made, thick leather with full padding from heel to toe. They have yet to be worn outside of the living room, but these shoes seem to live up to their reputation for comfort. The stitching is good and the shoes are soft and stretchy. Only time will tell how suitable they are for travel and wearing once a week. Fit: I ordered my usual shoe size 10.5 medium and found they fit true to size. I have a wider than average foot (doesn't fit Nike shoes, New Balance usually works best), and the medium width goes well with socks. Color: Concerned that this skin would be too red (as shown in some photos). . I'm happy with this color and find it goes equally well with dark jeans, blue pants and tan khakis. Not sure why the color options are listed as 'auburn' and 'auburn leather' - I ordered 'auburn' and got an all leather shoe. Style: A very versatile look as mentioned above looks great with jeans or khakis. . The shoes are a bit thick for a suit in my opinion, but would be fine for a casual office outfit or a relaxed evening.
