This adapter can either be plugged into an existing wall plate or installed in place of an existing wall plate, greatly improving IME performance. Plugging in is a breeze and the quality seems good - better than a couple of GE adapters I've used. However, if it is mounted directly to an outlet (i.e. instead of an existing panel), how tight it fits to the wall depends on the depth of the outlet in the box. The one I installed in my 10 year old house didn't fit flush with the wall, about 1/8 inch clearance. However, I was able to adjust the placement of the outlet in the box so that the adapter was flush. Price.
