I bought this toy hoping it would keep our 1 year old entertained while we were on family vacation. It happened! And since then she has been playing with him for 2 months! I think this toy will be relevant for a long time, since it has many components. She has learned to take out carrots and worms but is still working on getting the fruit into the appropriate holes on the side. Definitely not a short term toy. The quality is really good. She puts the pieces in her mouth and they don't scratch or break. This is a really nice wooden set at a good price!
