very disappointing

I wanted to replace my outdated SB X-Fi Titanium Fata1ity Pro in my new build. Even though I put the supposedly "high" audio into the MSI M7 board, it still wasn't up to scratch. X-Fi, which is 7 years old, still knocks the pants down on the ALC1220. So I decided to look for something new. I'm only interested in the analog 7.1 outputs of my Tiamat 7.1 headphones. I have an external DAC for music. Now there are very few sound card options with 7.1 support. The Strix series is one of them. Also the new SB AE-5 is really only 5.1 with "virtual/fake 7.1". I can't believe there is nothing better than my old X-Fi. It all boiled down to Strix Raid DLX and Essence STX II 7.1, which are older but still a killer card. Unfortunately, after some searching I found that STX II 7.1 doesn't work with AMD B350/X370/X470 motherboards, so Strix was really the only option. What a disappointment. The first thing I noticed was the lack of bass in 7.1. I think this should be easily fixed on the line card by just going into the settings (same as the X-Fi) and enabling bass management/redirection/crossover etc but hey. This setting is not available on Strix cards. I even found a post on the official Asus support forums about the exact same issue. Just to read the official post that Asus will not add this feature to an already released product. find out. So I fiddled with the settings to get more bass through the side/front channels and ignore the quiet subwoofer. Then I decided to start the game. any game. and the second time I turned on the graphics card, I noticed a strong whistling in the headphones. Like other negative reviews here - this is directly related to the load on the graphics card and is not properly filtered. So a total disaster. The POS card is back and the old X-Fi is back in the system.
