Off Grid Solar Microwave Oven

My reason for buying this microwave is probably very different than most people who have written a review here. I wanted a microwave that could be used with an off-grid solar system. My solar system currently consists of 4 x 100w solar panels, a 40amp MPPT charge monitor, 4 x 105 amp deep cycle batteries in series and a 48 volt 1500 watt pure sine wave inverter. The inverter does a pretty good job of powering my compact 4.4 cu ft refrigerator, 32-inch flat screen TV, and laptop. However, the old 1100w digital microwave I tried ran out of inverter and batteries! Also, my inverter is designed to break power between loads, saving valuable energy. Using a digitally controlled microwave oven will cause the inverter to be on continuously unless turned off after each use. As a Prime member, I ordered on Thursday afternoon and received the microwave on Saturday morning. Arrived undamaged in double box. Curious how this would work, I heated water to room temperature for a cup of coffee in about 2 minutes. After reading that a microwave of this size will not cook popcorn at 600 watts. I found an "old" microwave bag I had and microwaved it for 6 minutes. To my surprise, the popcorn was gone after about 4 minutes. I've had better (more tender) popcorn, but almost all of the kernels came out a good size. I am planning to buy a new top brand box to see if I like it better. For lunch I decided to heat up a frozen pizza I bought while looking at a 1100w microwave. I turned off the microwave after about 4 minutes as the cheese seemed to melt nicely. To my delight, the pizza was quite hot the entire time. I don't currently have a digital AC watt meter, but the LEDs on the inverter read about 900 watts when the microwave is on. The load on my batteries seems to be quite acceptable and on a sunny day the batteries should soon be fully charged. With simple dual button controls, I don't have to worry about unplugging this microwave between uses. Given the very limited time I've had to use this microwave. I think this should be a nice addition to my off-grid solar system! Update: I checked the wattage using a cheap AC watt meter when using a 600w Westinghouse WCM660W microwave. In several tests, the power ranged from 940 to 980 watts. There is no power surge when starting, as there is with a refrigerator.
