Review on AUNA Connect 150 Black 2.1 Wi-Fi Internet Radio Music Player With MP3 USB Port, AUX & Remote Control - Black by Steven Emberling

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good buy for the money

I was looking for an internet radio that could play my iPod as well as connect locally to FM stations. I had originally purchased the LEMEGA 5+ for an unseemly amount of money but returned it after 2 days. Among other things, it keep losing the internet connection and froze. This required unplugging it and setting it up again. (see my review on revain). The Auna Connect 150 is a lot less expensive so I wasn't sure it would do any better. To my complete satisfaction, the Auna works just about perfectly. The sound quality is as good as my Bose (although others seem to disagree about this), the features are as advertised, and it will play my iPod through the auxiliary cable. It will also play tracks in folders on a USB drive. The number of songs that it will shuffle, though, is limited to about 400. My USB drive has 1360 tracks and when I hit "shuffle" I received an error message "too many tracks to shuffle." I put half the songs in one folder and the other half in another, but still no shuffling. Cutting each folder in half again solved the problem, but to me, the ability to shuffle any number of songs is old technology. My 2012 car radio doesn't have a problem so why not a home radio? (The LEMEGA has a limit of 200 songs.) The only other issue I should mention is that if you don't change an internet station for a while, when you do, an error message pops up saying "internet connection lost, retry." Hitting the "select" button solves the problem in a few seconds.A few other points. I order a black model but I was sent a brown one in a previously opened box, which was missing the auxiliary cable. I returned it and asked for a black model. It came two days later in a closed box. Also, Spotify requires a premium subscription. A good feature is the FM tuner. It works throughout my house and garage and the sound is fine. One shortcoming with the unit is the remote. I seems to only work at a short distance and then only if you are in direct line of sight with noting in between you and the radio. In all, I would recommend the radio, especially with the $30 price reduction.

Pros
  • Adaptable: The Wi-Fi radio also provides an AUX input that can accomodate external sources such as mobile phones, MP3 players, and laptops while the MP3-capable USB port allows you to play any portable music files.
Cons
  • The Wi-Fi connectivity is unreliable
