You need a lot of patience when assembling it yourself. The instructions do not state the order in which to assemble the parts. For those like me who need step-by-step instructions, I found assembly very difficult. I finally made it but I was struggling to hold all the metal bars in place and now there are scratches in the wood around each hole from the bars continuing to slide. I also had to remove the screws and start over twice because I had to guess what I was doing. Finally, to secure the bench, I used a hammer to drive the screws into the wood. The end product is exactly what I wanted, but now I have to try to repair the scratches on the wood. I'm giving it 3 stars because of the lack of detail in the instructions.
