I had about a dozen rivets that I needed to drive out of a truck frame. After grinding the heads, I tried knocking them out with a punch and a sledgehammer, but they didn't give up. I looked at the cheap, lightweight air hammers that can be bought locally, but turned them down as they seemed to be nothing more than noisemakers. I ordered this one instead, and the next day this air hammer knocked out all the rivets with ease. Although I've been wondering, "Do you really need to spend $100 on a tool to do this?" The answer is ultimately YES. It was definitely worth the money rather than wasting a lot of time on other methods that could be frustrating or ineffective.
