Thanks to this, my old knives that I was ready to throw away work better than new ones. You should definitely try this. Guides are good to have, but since they're magnetic, they can be knocked off. This would be while moving the item, not during use, at least that's what I noticed. This product is definitely worth the money, but it's not as easy to use as manual sharpeners that you run the blade through. However, they are much sharper with this sharpening method.
