If it doesn't hold tiles well, buy a rubber sheet.

The silicone pads on the underside of the platform were not suitable for use on tiles. Of course, you can put a towel under it, but in this case it is better to find another product. The stones are fine. I threw the setup away after getting a plain sheet of gum. Works much better and costs next to nothing. It took a while, but after finding a good YouTube video I started sharpening my knives consistently.

Excellent product, suitable for sharpening stones

Unpacked today. It was easy to use and the water bath is a great idea. Great size for a kitchen. I used two knives, one a $10 Browning fillet knife and the other a 40 year old Camillus electrician's knife. The rough stone did it and the 6000 grit stone polished the edge. Tolerances for corner guides are very small. I had to move the left side to the right side to make them fit. Nothing that would detract from the overall score. It cleans easily with very little mess.

  • Satisfied so far

  • Out of fashion

Best Kitchen Knife Sharpener

I've had a set of Lanskey Stones for almost thirty years and love them for small hunting knives and leather goods. But Lanskey is not the best option for large kitchen knives. I've read a lot about Japanese wet rocks and decided this is the approach I want to take. I have to say that I am very satisfied with the results. They work well for my kitchen knives. I have combined this with a nice leather belt and together my kitchen knives are very sharp. Now I even sharpen knives for my family.

Pros
  • Durable Construction
Cons
  • Speed

Spend a little more.

I bought it to sharpen knives for my wife's typewriter. I could tell right away there was a problem. The stone wasn't flat. There was a big gap in the middle. I had to finish (smooth) the stone before I could use it. Luckily I had a diamond block that lined it up nicely. It also doesn't have a unified feel. Some areas of the stone appear softer than others. This goes to the kids to sharpen pocket knives. Luckily it was cheap. Rather spend a little more and buy Chosera or Cerax.

Pros
  • Sea of positive emotions
Cons
  • Price piggy bank

I have sharp knives again

Thanks to this, my old knives that I was ready to throw away work better than new ones. You should definitely try this. Guides are good to have, but since they're magnetic, they can be knocked off. This would be while moving the item, not during use, at least that's what I noticed. This product is definitely worth the money, but it's not as easy to use as manual sharpeners that you run the blade through. However, they are much sharper with this sharpening method.

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Has been damaged

High quality and performance

When using a sharpening stone, the result mainly depends on the technique used and your experience. When I first used this sharpening stone I used the method shown in the WorkSharp tutorial. I think that's exactly why I got bad results, the technique was bad. If you watch "How to use a grindstone" on YouTube, there are many videos that teach great techniques. I found a video that gave me pretty good results if I followed each step. As I started using better technique I saw much better results…

Is it worth your $30? For me yes.

To be honest I bought this because I wanted to see how the water based stone holder would do. The 1k/6k stone seems to be working well so far, after about 10 different blades on the 1k side it may need a light lapping but that's to be expected with all stones at this price point. Made of silicon carbide so it needs a bit of soaking when sharpening and also a lot of splattering, but it works and washing it off with a little water is a lot easier than washing off oil. I really like the stone…

OK, but it could be better.

I used to have WorkSharp sharpeners but put them away when I discovered the Lansky Deluxe sharpener system. I was in the market looking for whetstones and when I saw this I bought it straight away. I love the idea of this sharpener, an attempt to improve on the whetstone system, but two main things prevented me from getting the absolutely sharp edges on my knives that I was hoping for. Guides: These are held by a magnet so they can easily switch between two corners. You need a better mechanical
