The silicone pads on the underside of the platform were not suitable for use on tiles. Of course, you can put a towel under it, but in this case it is better to find another product. The stones are fine. I threw the setup away after getting a plain sheet of gum. Works much better and costs next to nothing. It took a while, but after finding a good YouTube video I started sharpening my knives consistently.
