I used to have WorkSharp sharpeners but put them away when I discovered the Lansky Deluxe sharpener system. I was in the market looking for whetstones and when I saw this I bought it straight away. I love the idea of this sharpener, an attempt to improve on the whetstone system, but two main things prevented me from getting the absolutely sharp edges on my knives that I was hoping for. Guides: These are held by a magnet so they can easily switch between two corners. You need a better mechanical attachment, a simple clip or clasp will work just fine. They kept coming loose or slipping while sharpening, confusing me. Another small thing about them is that they are quite narrow, I wish these guides were a bit wider and easier to find. However, being quite narrow and almost square, it would be pretty easy to have four corners instead of two. but good enough. But when the water splashed on the table, it started to slide quite a bit if I wasn't careful, and there's no really good way to pinch this system. Those are my two biggest complaints, I'd like to see more rockfalls. available on Amazon from WorkSharp maybe even as a pack or even a larger version as these stones are a bit small for large chef knives. Finally, I was a little confused when I realized how little water it actually holds in its water management base. When I first saw it I thought it would soak the bottom stone when using a lower grit, but it was a bit disappointing. See the bottom stone gets a little water and it was quite dry in use after being flipped as due to the rubber it sits on it could work much better with a ribbed bottom so it could hold more water and with more water can come into contact with stone. However, for the price of a beginner sharpening stone, this is a great $30 option. This system is great for pocket knives and gives pretty quick and good results if you can work around the failing guides. If your budget is bigger, buy a KING stone set and a larger sharpening stone holder which I will probably make for my larger chef's knives.
