I bought this card for a customer who just wanted sound. The onboard sound controller on the motherboard had failed and they didn't want a new system as the system they had worked great with for their needs was out of the question. They just wanted basic sound for things like YouTube videos, light music, and simple stuff. I found this card, installed it and tried to install the drivers from the hard drive but got an error saying it's not supported on this platform. Easy to fix. I googled the chipset (CMI8738) and found a driver download online. After installing the driver and disabling the onboard audio device, the new card ran like a champ. Although nothing special, it works as advertised.
