Solving a very specific problem and some important tips

If you play in the dark, some Razer keyboards like the Black Widow Ultimate will surprise and disappoint you: shifted characters are not backlit - not only numbers and "@$#%", but also quotes, semicolons, etc. It's not a big deal, but it's starting to get annoying for those of us working in dimly lit or dark environments. The Razer Doubleshot PBT Keyset solves this problem, although that's not its primary purpose. It just so happens that shift keys are used to highlight shifted characters. These keys are designed for gaming (okay, but does that mean other Razer keyboards are *not* designed for gaming?). They're more robust, which honestly doesn't feel necessary - most keyboards can handle long hours of WASD keystrokes as long as you don't hit them when things aren't going your way. A big plus is that they feel nice but are a bit rough. It's a slightly dotted texture that grips the fingertips a bit better. IMPORTANT TIPS: The package fits exactly into the four compartments. It comes with a key puller to make removing the keys easier, but with a MECHANICAL keyboard you really have to tread lightly when you press keys like SPACE, SHIFT and ENTER - they're on metal hinges and it takes patience to figure out how to remove the key first with the hook on one side and then on the other side. There should have been a little more time in the instructions to show you how to properly separate these keys - I remove adjacent keys to give myself wiggle room. Slide the key to the left until it disengages on the right side, then lift the disengaged right side up and slide to the right - the key disengages on the left side. Reverse process to attach a new key. If you're having trouble keeping the wire bail still while aligning, use a "fingertip" of the key puller to get under everything and hold it in place. You'll need to glue the hardware to the bottom of the key - they don't seem to fit, but it just takes effort, patience and persistence to snap them into place. The faucet is not symmetrical so you'll need to examine the key you removed to figure out which way the faucet should be pointing - look carefully! If the key doesn't fit when you install it, or it fits but then doesn't fit. Come back, be patient, check the fittings and hooks and try again. This kit DOES NOT include O-rings. So if you want to make something different, now is the time to get yourself a set of your favorites. If your keyboard has O-rings, be sure to remove them from the old keys and put them on the new ones before installing the keys. Overall this is a good set for the price and the buttons feel good. The key puller works fine. Razer could have spent a little more time documenting the more complex mechanical keys and the fact that the bottom hardware isn't symmetrical, but you'll have to be patient. It would also be helpful if Razer illuminated the shift keys on all of their keyboards - a lot of people play in low light.
