I wanted this to fit my GM Sierra's cassette mount on my dash.

Phone stand comes in a plain white box. It contained two bags. One had a phone holder and the other a cup and armrest mechanism. There were no instructions in the box. It was pretty easy to assemble. Remove the plastic nut from the phone holder, place it on the ball on the lever, insert the ball into the socket on the phone holder, and then screw the nut onto the socket's threads. Metal bolt with plastic knurled nut. If you loosen the knurled nut about 1 full turn, the lever will make a whistling noise. Between the two pivot points and the ball joint, you can position your phone in a variety of ways. The suction cup was a little surprise for me. It was obscured by the plastic circle you removed. The "gel" cup was sticky. I was a little worried because I wasn't sure if it could be taken off once put on. It has a standard handle that you flip to stick to the surface. So I removed the plastic and placed the cup on one side in the cassette bin so the suction cup was vertical, I flipped the lever to suck the cup to my surface. I adjusted the brackets and hinge bushing to my liking. The phone holder component is a little short vertically, but that appears to be because the camera lens isn't blocked. There are two small supports on the bottom of the phone holder that you unscrew and support the phone when you put it in the holder for the first time. The hands actually holding the phone have a very good system running it. There is a button on the right side that you press and the arms open slowly, it seems like they are running on a pneumatic/hydraulic slow opening mechanism. When they open wide enough to fit your phone, release the button and your hands will stop. You can then place your phone in the stand and wrap your hands around the phone. You can hear a slight snap as they snap around your phone. If you push closer to the back of the levers, you may hear another click or two from the ratchet. Holds cell phone very securely. The mount has a rubber backing and grips that provide a soft surface for your phone. My phone is a Samsung S8 with Defender Otterbox on it. Holds the phone well. First Impression: This is a well-designed phone holder that will hold your phone securely and carefully. After a while I removed the phone holder and although it wouldn't remove due to the sticky gel cup, it still came off. He didn't leave any traces that I could see. I think a gel cup would work well on dashboards that aren't perfectly smooth and have some texture. But I can't confirm that, because I've only put it on a smooth plastic surface so far. Let's see how time behaves with this holder. 4.5 stars
