Review on πŸ”Š Skar Audio EVL-65 D4: 6.5" 400W Max Power Dual 4 Ohm Car Subwoofer - Superior Sound and Performance! by Johnny Black

Revainrating 5 out of 5

All the reviews disappointed me, but still this is a great subwoofer.

I have a regular 2018 Silverado cab and the stock system is absolutely nondescript. Of course, space is a big issue. After months of playing around with different cabinet designs, I decided to buy this subwoofer along with a custom .25cc. The foot of the sealed case was all I could easily fit without sacrificing the ability to raise the center console or sacrificing legroom. There have been many reviews claiming this subwoofer "hit like a 10" and how "amazing" it is. I can assure you it does NOT hit like a 10. That being said, I would say that this subwoofer performs very well given its small size. I would estimate that it puts out about 2 or 3 times more bass than any stock premium Bose system you can find in a car. I have a couple of concerns: (1) This sub can be overdriven fairly easily. I have a 300w amp and as soon as I think I've set it up I hear the bottom end of the subwoofer and I have to turn the gain down even more. My amp is running at about 50% and I can still find a few songs where it's running low. I would say that while this subwoofer is technically capable of handling 200W RMS, at this level you are likely to experience unexpected peaks in excess of 400W. I think a more realistic RMS value is probably 100-150 watts or you risk bottoming out. (2) My second problem is related to terminal connections. The way they are angled towards each other makes using spade terminals a real problem. If the clamps I was using weren't shrouded, there would definitely be a short. Conclusion: If you have space, you should definitely get a larger subwoofer. If you don't have the space then this is a great 6.5 inch subwoofer.
