Review on Razer BlackWidow Lite Detachable Tenkeyless by Reggie Hobbs

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Not inconspicuous, violent key jiggle, bulk software download required (0.4GB)

A misleading keyword I would use to better describe this RAZER BlackWidow Lite TKL keyboard. Photo: Comparison of low-profile keyboards (HAVIT HV) - KB390L on the left, Tecware Phantom L in the middle and RAZER BlackWidow Lite TKL on the sides on the right) Low-profile, this is clearly not the case. The deck is one of the tallest, low-profile keyboards I've come across and comes with full-size orange (or brown) switches. So the only unremarkable thing about this keyboard is the keycaps, which look incredibly weird underneath. goes out and half of the switch is still visible. The elephant in the room is the shock of plugging in the keyboard and instantly seeing the RAZER software installer on the screen. I'm not sure if this is part of an internal storage utility configured to start automatically when a plugin is plugged in, or part of the Windows plug and play design, but the former makes me wonder what else could accompany the internal payload. So the software installer wants to download a small program, like some RGB keyboards, usually a few MB in size, right? The RAZER is almost 0.4GB, dammit! Not to mention that, to my knowledge, it's impossible to set up, let alone activate, lighting effects without software. RAZER's orange tactile switches feel very comfortable. I wish the hit was a bit sharper, but overall I'd give them a 7/10 with a slightly shallower actuation point than a regular derailleur, but not quite a fast or flat derailleur. The gimbals are mediocre and uneven, but when combined with the terrible button jitter and the feel of an ABS plastic body with a thin aluminum plate, the build quality really suffers. The keycaps look decent for basic ABS keycaps, but good luck replacing custom sizes when worn and shiny. If RAZER is trying to identify itself as a premium brand, it needs to up its game and not release such budget peripherals. There are many better alternatives in this price range.
