We have solid oak floors and regular sticks on glides get caught on the joints or the dog grabs the edge and tears it off. I bought them because they can be attached with screws. These pads are pretty easy to install and glide like a dream. Make a drilling template to center it on the leg and installation will be easy. To make it easier to install I made a drilling jig out of scrap plywood I had. I drilled a shallow hole with a 1-1/16" Forstner bit. Of course, each chair should be checked for leg diameter/size and the appropriate Forstner bit used. Use a Forstner bit to drill a 3/32" diameter hole through to drill the plywood. To use, simply place the drill press on the leg and make sure the bottom of the leg is in the recess. Hold the jig with one hand and drill a hole for the screw.
