I've been using it for quite some time (about 1 year). I bought it to replace my favorite Japanese iron. I had no problems with this product. If you read the care instructions, it says not to hang it by the string and put it in a horizontal position to cool. I do it. I just keep it on my vanity. Doesn't burn the table even at the highest setting. The plates are very smooth and do not pull on the hair. Heats up consistently in seconds. One of the reasons I dropped the star is because it doesn't have a circuit breaker, which is "nice to have" (it shouldn't have). I left it on for a day and luckily nothing bad happened! Second, I don't think it has any special function other than straightening hair. I don't notice my hair getting shinier, other than that the ceramic straighteners straighten the hair cuticle. Beware if you have thin hair (like me), the highest setting can burn your hair. it happened to me But that's not the product's fault. Overall, I recommend this product, but I hope the company will have an updated product with an auto shut-off feature in the future.
