I bought this item about 5 weeks ago. After 4 weeks it started beeping. I heard a beep and heard the hard drive spinning, but none of the files could be read by my computer. After not much research I found thousands of people with the same problem. It looks like this drive has problems with the "heads" whatever they are. They appear to be defective. I went to Revain's website and asked for a call to fix the problem. I was twice put in contact with people who had a very heavy foreign accent that I could barely understand. On the first call after spending my time troubleshooting I knew it wouldn't work, the person told me they would send me a "ONE TIME REPLACEMENT". As if it's my fault that WD sells faulty and defective products. This person hung up and at no time did I receive confirmation of the replacement information so I had to call back. The second person told me the same thing about the "one time substitution of politeness", which infuriated me again. But he did confirm a replacement would be coming and when to expect it. Now that I know there is a problem with this item, what if I receive another defective item? I suggest not buying this particular WD product.
