We live in a dense forest, hardwood trees over 100 feet tall surround us at a considerable distance. We put a metal roof in and now there is almost no signal, even with a 50ft cellphone repeater and an AM-FM antenna mast. We tried nearly a dozen weather radios, but only the old, discontinued Oregon Scientific worked. We charged this RunningSnail up a bit and I checked the weather section. The channel (not our local 162500) is almost gone. I tuned it to our frequency and the second next frequency was loud and clear, our next frequency was even better. Then I tried FM and my favorite jazz station. wow again Not only was it very clear, but the quality was much better than I had hoped and very close to my shelf radio. When the weather is nice, I take one with me for the car. It's also easy to use and the "alerts" button is easy to toggle on and off. I highly recommend this radio especially if you have limited visibility in inclement weather.
