Give him a few days, trust me!

I don't write many reviews but as a dog lover I felt the need to reassure some puppy owners. I don't have much experience with Cones of Shame, but this one is great so far. Like everyone reading this, I felt horrible throwing something like this at my dog, but now I'm relieved. The first time you put it on you feel terrible and you look so confused. I know all dogs react differently but I doubt any of them were very happy with the situation. Just tell yourself, like I did, that it's not just that and you won't get well without it. I leave my 100# dog at home at work during the day and have plenty of time to try and get her paw which I seriously thought he would even with this cone but that didn't happen. After about day 3 you will notice a noticeable change in the way you use the Kegel. They "smile" at you when you return home as usual and it seems that the situation is really fine. This brings me to the actual product test. I think that soft aspect of the cone is ultimately key. Your dog is not used to being interrupted by accessories and, like mine, is likely to be very confused. However, after a few days, you can see them moving as if it weren't on. They get stuck in the door and continue on their way as usual, rather than stopping and spinning around in utter confusion as to what is happening. The construction seems pretty good and the materials are solid. The only exception are the straps through which the collar is passed. They appear to be quite weak, but other than appearance there is no evidence that this is the case. My dog didn't try to rip it off by snapping the straps and didn't damage it in any way. He's also one of those dogs that can kill any heavy bunch of chews in half an hour. The only other downside would be the placement of the velcro. The workmanship is excellent, however the strips are thin and come loose so depending on your dog's neck size it may take a little trial and error to get the fit right. You definitely want to have as much Velcro in contact as possible to maintain the cone shape. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a cone. I understand that all dogs are different, but trust me if you don't put a collar on and otherwise act like nothing has changed, they will adjust and you won't feel so bad! You will see the benefit of a soft cone after a few days as your dog will know when to just move around as usual knowing the cone is flexing and yielding. I would recommend having someone at home for the first few days if possible to make some adjustments if necessary. When you see that they've almost compromised the cone, you can learn and make small adjustments until all their efforts to remove it are thwarted. As we all know, once they manage to defeat him, nothing will stop them. This is a good product and if used properly it will serve you and your pup well. Hope that helps!
