Wouldn't recommend for large dogs. I originally used it as a deterrent. When I finally broke down and used it to stop my dog from licking his paws, he broke the plastic part of the guard almost immediately. After 4 days of continuous wear, the device definitely looks worse with wear and tear. The plastic screen is torn, parts are missing. Their ears feel warmer, which makes them even more itchy. I bought this medium sized e-collar for my 20 lb jack russell after surgery, it fit perfectly. (It will probably work for slightly larger pets as well.)
