As an artist, I own many brushes, hundreds, including several sable and squirrel brushes that cost hundreds of dollars each. But sometimes I need a quick, inexpensive, disposable brush that I know I can ruin in a single use. They serve this purpose. I use them to remove eraser crumbs from a pencil drawing or to remove charcoal dust from the bottom edge of an easel. I would never use them to apply paint, ink, water or graphite dust to any surface in any setting. They are too thin and the bristles easily loosen and lose their shape. But for disposable brushes, especially when I paint "en plein air", they are sometimes useful. I would never clean them. They would just fall apart if I tried to clean them, even just in water. I only use them once for some dirty work and throw them away like chopsticks, cotton swabs or plastic picnic spoons.
