I've been updating a few Maglights with a similar product and decided to turn my attention to a few older, cheaper lanterns around my house, including a few antiques that were lying around my house. It was quite amazing to see a flashlight, probably made in the 1960's, that gave off a bright, clear, white light compared to the pale yellow it gave off with your old incandescent bulb. Not even some old $5 flashlights I bought. At Target a few years ago, these updates gave them new life. I was impressed! However, they didn't work with everyone. Something in the connectors just didn't work with those lights causing them to flicker and then go out again. Not what you want in an emergency. Overall, however, they work great! (when they work)
