Detailed Review

I compared the Crayola to these picks for beginners in the art world. I'm in between and both have pros and cons. Advantages of prismacolor: smooth glide, excellent pigment with consistent light pressure, ideal for sketching and note-taking. Disadvantages: Even with a light hand, the colors appear after erasing. This can be a plus when using alcohol based markers. They work well together. Pros of Crayola: Good for people with very heavy hands. What a really heavy hand. Erases where you can't see ink residue. Cons: Scratches the paper when used. Not soft. Even creating the cover requires a lot of pressure, and it's not great for taking notes. Crayola is great for beginners, but that's about it. Prismacolor is great for all levels. Crayola is cheaper, but for obvious reasons the difference in quality is huge. I used printer paper as the paper. I've used both on sketch paper and a prism, it shows erased spots just like on this paper. I haven't tried Crayola on sketch paper as it was difficult to use on printer paper. Hope this helps, good luck artist!
