I was a bit disappointed to see that the box of this product was a little tatty on arrival but all the pens were intact and just needed a new home. They are sharpened to a good point, not easy to break. Compared to my regular Prismacolors, they aren't as bold and don't feel as velvety when colored, which I didn't really care since I used them for sketching, not coloring. They do an excellent job of doing this and most colors wash off wonderfully. I don't expect a pencil to erase 100% unless I…

Pros
  • Perfect for illustrations, animations and even taking notes
Cons
  • Expensive

I don't recommend beginners for this as I am and it was.

I received these a few days ago and at first I was very happy that I finally got them. Until I tried to sharpen them. These pins are very thick and the LED keeps breaking inside. The small lead bits got stuck in my sharpener to the point that I needed another tool to get the lead out. I tried several other pencils in the box and different sharpeners and the result was the same. The pencil lead broke in the sharpener. This is my first time drawing with colored pencils and I had no idea how thick

Pros
  • Intensely rich pigments glide on smoothly and wash off easily
Cons
  • Not as thick as other shades

Detailed Review

I compared the Crayola to these picks for beginners in the art world. I'm in between and both have pros and cons. Advantages of prismacolor: smooth glide, excellent pigment with consistent light pressure, ideal for sketching and note-taking. Disadvantages: Even with a light hand, the colors appear after erasing. This can be a plus when using alcohol based markers. They work well together. Pros of Crayola: Good for people with very heavy hands. What a really heavy hand. Erases where you can't…

Pros
  • Durable center point that resists tears and breaks
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other picks
