I needed an inexpensive box to use the SAS hard drives I had and the SAS HBA controller I already had. Everything went without problems, except that I could hardly find the power button (it's in the block door on the left). Once I found the driver for my card, my computer immediately indicated that the drives were available for the storage pool, and I was able to create a new pool in minutes. It's quiet enough. I have it in a rack where most other gear is louder so can't say I can hear it. All in all a simple and cheap solution.
