If you come to bed, this thing is cool. A nice, comfortable cool. No shock to the nervous system. However, if you move your head, then return shortly to the previous position, the cool is far from noticeable. If the fan is on, the difference is more persistent. If you have good air flow, you will feel more cool. If you sleep with a fan off I wouldn't get your hopes up. But they are very comfortable. Very much so. I don't think the cooling effect is as noticeable as advertised, but it's definitely 1-2 degrees lower than the room temperature. I have no complaints. I enjoy these and the no-slip hold on the pillows is nice. The zipper doesn't even bother me. If you want comfort, this is a good contender; they are very soft and I have no intention of returning them since I do not feel they are as cool as advertised. I am happy with them.
