UPDATE 01/11/2018: Bought new for second car, revised. Downgrading to 2 stars because 1) the magnets aren't as strong as they used to be and 2) the teeth that hold the vents in place are now softer, more flexible rubber. The flexible rubber doesn't hold up that well and causes too much vibration that makes it difficult for me to see my phone's screen. Why make magnets weaker? This defeats the whole purpose of buying a 6 magnet mount instead of a 4 magnet mount. I have a Galaxy S8 and now this mount is barely enough to hold the phone in place. And I don't want to lose my wireless charger, so I don't want to use the included backplate. I bought this mount on purpose because it has 6 neodymium magnets instead of 4 like most magnetic mounts. I needed extra holding power because my Galaxy S7 is thicker than most with genuine leather lining on the back. Installed it on an Infiniti G37 with vertical air vents and am happy to report that the mount holds the phone in place very well. When swiping and touching the screen, the phone doesn't move at all. It moves slightly when you press the physical home button. Luckily, the mount's design places the phone far enough away from the vent that I can easily hide the home button behind the phone with my thumb and forefinger. In addition, there is already enough magnetic material inside the Galaxy S7. All this without the supplied magnetic sticker. The end result is a minimal flush mount solution that retains the Galaxy S7's wireless charging capabilities. Based on my testing, it fits perfectly on the S7 without a vinyl or leather case. If you have a case, the mount will still work, but you'll likely need to install the included magnetic plate.
