Review on LG E2742V 27" Full HD Widescreen Monitor, 1920X1080P, 60Hz, Wide Screen by Matt Zhou

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very good for a matt 24 " 16:9 monitor.

I bought two of these from Newegg when they were selling for $169 each. I was looking for some 24" models to equip my new office. After a week of use I am very satisfied with them. The quality is noticeable because the screens are matte, while the 2408 It's glossy glass Pros: * No problem pixels * VESA 100x100 support * The sharpest/clearest matte screen I've ever seen/seen * Since it's matte, there's hardly any Reflection noise from incident light* HDMI, DVI- D and VGA* Incredibly thin and light, you can easily mount four of these with a quad VESA mount without fear of overhang due to weight* Viewing angles are about what you would expect from a regular screen - IPS monitor *No ghosting* Blacks are good* No background noise which is the closest thing to LED sources Cons:* I prefer a glossy screen but that's not the fault of this pr oduct* As with most screens these days, the end result is a joke. So poor quality, I've already bought a dual monitor VESA mount. Adjust the brightness, the screen will be less bright, only the colors will be faint* The power button blinks amber in sleep mode. It's annoying enough to consider lowering the rating to four stars. You need to make sure these things are turned off when you stay in the room with them. (There may be a setting to stop this, but I couldn't find it with a quick menu search) * 16:9 only, not 16:10. It's hard to blame this screen as most monitors seem to eschew the standard 1900x1200 resolution. Cable. I needed short extension cords for my battery so they wouldn't block multiple power connectors on the backplane. Verdict: It probably isn't worth five stars for $240 apiece, but it's easily four stars for $160 apiece.

Pros
  • quick change
Cons
  • Non-intuitive menu system
