Review on Black Widow MCC-500 Steel Motorcycle Carrier by Ryan Chaplain

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works beautifully except for one thing

I'm going to give an honest as possible review.Overall built strong, sturdy, all the weld are well done. The first and in reality the only negative thing about this is the overall length from the end of my vehicle. There is a good 3-4 inches of extra space separating my motorcycle from my Dodge Nitro. Maybe it is not like that for other vehicles but for me it seems to hang just too far back. I get that it maybe for extra safety but with a hitch mount you want to limit the amount of weight (and force) applied to the tongue. Put simply when I go over any bumps in the road, less bounce is better for everyone. Better for my hitch receiver Better for my Nitro. Taking out that added length could keep it closer to my trunk area and would help with less bounce. Think of a kids see-saw. The hitch pin being the middle and the motorcycle being on one end, the other end begin my rear axle and shocks. The only other complaint would be one of my srew holes didn't line up so I had to a little forceful push to get it to line up enough to get the bolt through. But that was only a minor annoyance and nothing wrong structurally.Like I said it gets the job done. The ramp works perfect. Didn't need to adjust anything after putting it together. Took 30 minutes to have it together and my bike strapped down.I would recommend that if you plan on doing any night driving or dusk/dawn you get a cheap set of trailer lights to connect to your hitch so that others can see you stopping. Pros
  • Deters theft of your motorcycle
Cons
  • Can increase the risk of theft or damage to the motorcycle while in transit
