I chose this for my kitchen to replace the traditional three prong extension socket. Traditional 3-pin connectors have become unusable in most scenarios today with so many devices requiring transformers everywhere. My 3-plug splitter wouldn't let me plug in my wireless charging station because of other devices that were there (namely, USB chargers for my air quality meter and tablet dock). I replaced plug 3 with this plug 2 with its USB ports and now the transformers don't cover the middle plug (because there is no plug and there is the right spacing) and the USB ports right on the unit power my Tablet Dock+ Air . quality knife. Only 3.1A is a little too weak, but it's enough for this air quality meter (1A or less) and then the tablet dock runs at 2.1A. That's still weak, but acceptable for my application since the devices usually stay there overnight.
