Works fine but after 3 tries with my knife it got easier.

I'd love to love this lemon slicer, but that's okay, alas. I love fresh lemons and eat a few every day. I like to slice them open and remove any thin membranes between the slices, so I only eat the pulp. I thought this slicer would make it much faster for me, but it doesn't. Anyway, it was longer. I will say that maybe it would work better if I had little lemons. Because my lemons are so big, I really had to pay attention to the exact alignment of the grooves in the slicer and make sure they lined up with the main arms. After cutting off the end of the stem, which they recommend you do before inserting the lemon into the stand, I struggled to run the knife over the base's hands because I didn't have the top lined up as well with the open spots on mine Hands could easily slip into these groves. This is my first photo so I only had 4-5 large slices. My second try was slightly better and my third was probably as good as I could get with the size of lemons I had. The only problem I had after figuring out you had to orient them correctly was that I still cut them at a slight angle, so I still had to use a knife to cut them along their membranes. Since I needed my knife to cut them again, I found it easier to just use my knife in addition to cutting off the stem. Perhaps I wouldn't have been so disappointed if it had included instructions other than a few photos of a lemon being cut on one side of the box. Finally, you need to be careful when cutting, applying light pressure and gently rocking it from side to side. However, when he finally got the hang of it and really started slicing the lemon pretty quickly, I banged my knuckles on the cutting board! I recommend keeping your palm flat on both sides, rather than pressing on either side with your knuckles bent. The good thing is that it can be washed in the dishwasher. And thank goodness because I tried to hand wash it and it was quite difficult for me to stick the sponge between each disc on the slicer, and also at the very bottom on the floor.
