The best thing about this lid is the plastic. It is of high quality and constructed to withstand commercial or restaurant use without falling apart. This is a very simple device and the doors are balanced to return when pushed down. There are no springs or mechanisms to break. The valves are simply plugged into the lid and can be easily removed if necessary. They fit perfectly in a matching 23 gallon narrow trash can. It just sits on top, doesn't jam or snap in one direction. A very basic lid but it works well for me and I like the slim design for tighter spaces.
