Review on Westcott 2001 43 Inch Collapsible Umbrella by John Brouillard

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Ideal for jumping and shooting!

Due to the compact size when folded, I thought at first that my order was missing umbrellas! It is packaged in a thin black pouch inside a thick clear pouch which is easy to store (I eventually got rid of the black pouch). When folded it only measures about 14 inches including the center tube, making it much easier to travel with an umbrella (I bought two, a third is coming soon). Slim that rotates easily around the screen adapter. This Westcott version has a thicker hex cover that prevents rotation and also fits perfectly on most umbrella adapters. The center tube also has three stages to shorten and lengthen the tube. The best thing about the white umbrella satin finish. It's thicker and has a glossy coating on the inside that's great for reflecting or softening glaring penetrating light. To get the maximum but diffused amount of light, I would bounce the light during capture to reduce the power and soften the light by about 3x. BTW I never liked that the speedlite flash head always points to the top 2/3, so I also bought an "M-18 Pro Flash Hot Shoe Umbrella Holder Adapter" at Revain, so I use an extra foot , to move me Flash the Speedlite horizontally onto the center tube. Light is better diffused when light passes through the center. Overall, this is probably one of the highest quality umbrellas on the market. slightly overturned. It was a slow shot, but she didn't catch the falling stand in time, and it felt like the umbrella hit the side gently but had the center shaft completely bent. Lesson learned, use weights :p
