The printer doesn't recognize this cartridge

I have an HP Officejet Pro 8620. The black ink I ordered from Revain for it is an HP 950XL. Although the cartridge brand and number are correct and the cartridge looks identical to the old one, the printer does not recognize it and continues to reject it. I bought this in May 2018 to have the ink I need on hand so I don't run out. I don't know what's going on with this cartridge. Maybe it's an inferior batch or a fake. Or just defective. NOW I can't use my printer until I buy another one that works. I guess I'll have to buy it at Staples. UPDATE: The cartridge was for the Z10 region, so it was the correct cartridge for my printer. However, after calling HP support, I ran some simple tests on my printer. It looks like the problem is with the printer and not the cartridge. My printer has developed Alzheimer's disease and is not recognizing the correct cartridge. There is nothing that can be done about this, so HP support was happy to sell me an upgraded version of the printer that uses a different ink. Great marketing plan. NO! I bought $90 worth of ink only to find out I couldn't use the printer. If your printer does not recognize the cartridge. Call HP support immediately, don't assume it's the cartridge. Although I bought the printer with a so-called discount (Revain had it for the same price). I also felt like a victim of HP's master plan. I also bought an Epson with SUPER ink tanks. So let's run a parallel test. And I won't (hopefully) run out of printers! I still give it one star because the printer should have warned of a PRINTER error, NOT a cartridge. Would have saved me €45. In addition, the ink price is too high. So now I'm testing the competition.

Pros
  • There's something in there
Cons
  • Almost everything is there
