One time installation at purchase. Very easy to use. I was tired of photographing a meteor shower, I survived it without any problems on a pitch-dark night. The ball head came in a separate package; However, I just left it on and turned it around a bit when I put it in my pocket. The legs have knobs that are very easy to install, adjust, use and remove. Tough enough for a Sony mirrorless camera. Has a nice big silver hook under the ball head if you want to get a foothold. Been looking for a long time, very happy with the purchase. Great, solid tripod at a great price.
