Review on πŸ“€ Philips DVD711AT DVD Player: Enhance Home Entertainment with Advanced Features by Isaac Maze

Best player for the money

After much research into DVD players in this price range, I finally narrowed it down to the Philips 711 or Toshiba 1700. I actually wanted to buy a Toshiba, but then changed my mind for two reasons. I bought a Toshiba unit (literally) from Best Buy and it was very light and cheap looking, especially the back. Philips seemed very solid to me. I've also just bought a new Philips 27 inch TV (Silver) with phenomenal picture quality and component video capabilities and thought a Philips DVD player would be a better match. The Philips DVD player was very convincing with its picture quality, which in my opinion is the most important feature of the player. This is the second player I've bought, the first being a $350 Sony model paired with a 32 inch Sony TV and Dolby Digital 5.1 sound. I can't give any unit an advantage. Remove a "toy" but the on-screen programming is extraordinary. The zoom is also a nice feature that the Sony device doesn't have. Considering the price and Philips' reputation for quality electronics, you have nothing to lose with this device.
