I was wanting to fit a slim IDE drive with this thing, but I had one annoying factor holding me back: the USB cable was routed through the TOP half of the case. For some reason, the USB cable doesn't run from the bottom, despite having enough space next to the 2.5-inch dock. Instead, it starts at the bottom where the connectors are, then rises to the exit, carving a cutout for the drive's slim interface. Not only does this prevent me from installing the drive with its adapter into the case (because the cutout doesn't run the full length of the back panel), it also prevents me from installing the drive itself into the case and then connecting the adapter from the outside pure. In this case it was not possible to use my IDE drive and I had to resort to a SATA optical drive. This could have been avoided with a more thoughtful design. For some reason there is a MOLEX input to power the LED on the front of the 2.5" dock. The docking station drive power supply is powered by the SATA cable, and the cable on the female end that connects to the power supply is Molex. The Y-cable is a bit unorthodox in that it has a 4-pin power-out connector for the LED on the front of the 2.5-inch hot-swap bay in addition to the end that connects to the SATA power connector in the You must use it, but why is it SATA but not SATA? Coupled with the need to use a SATA optical drive (meaning I need to use an interface adapter that also includes a Molex connector), this ultimately made it better to use a Molex circuit on my modular Using a power supply instead of a SATA circuit is not what I planned and reduces the efficiency of my cabling in the process. Also, I can confirm that it's fully functional, so I can't complain about any issues that prevented me from actually using it, but in terms of what I was trying to do with my own system, it fell flat on the head.
